Located within the premises of the imperial palace of Hofburg is the beautiful Burggarten, which features interesting statues, a palm house and other several attractions.
The garden has several monuments including one that portrays Hercules and a lion in a battle. This statue which dates back to the 18th century, was installed in 1948. Another one is a statue of Emperor Franz-Joseph I built in the early 1900s. But the most photographed of them all is the 1896 creation, the Mozart Denkmal, sculpted by Austrian artist Viktor Tilgner. It depicts Mozart standing on a pedestal and surrounded by musical instruments.
