It would seem like the sky has brought down some of its stars into the island, which is why the Vaadhoo Island is called the “sea of stars”. Although it looks magical, there’s a scientific explanation as to why the sea is sparkling like this. The bioluminescence is produced by dinoflaggellates, a type of phytoplankton. The unique illumination is created by a channel in the phytoplankton’s cell membrane that responds to electric signals. Interesting, right?
You’ll be more amazed when you see the sea of stars yourself. Be sure to include this in your bucket list of places to visit in your lifetime.
