No traveler in his right mind would miss out on the opportunity to visit Banff, which is situated in the summit of the Canadian Rockies. It doesn’t matter whether you’re traveling by car or braving the trails in your hiking boots, snow shoes or a bicycle, you can expect to have the most awesome time ever breathing in the wonderful scenery that this place has to offer. It’s no surprise that Banff is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It’s also good to know that there’s a wide range of accommodation types in Banff. If you’re coming here on a shoestring budget, there are cheap camping sites where you can spend the night. If money is no object, there are luxurious accommodations that could make you feel pampered in the middle of wilderness.
The mountain town also has many museums, shopping outlets, restaurants, and historic sites to keep you occupied throughout your stay. Notable attractions that should be included in your list of things to do are the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, Luxton Museum and Banff Park Museum. For a more interesting vacation, try visiting during one of the major festivals or events.
This area in the Canadian Rockies was once known only by the natives who lived in the valleys. It was in 1700s when Europeans arrived and began exploring the mountainous terrains. In 1888, the Banff Springs Hotel was opened under the supervision of William Cornelius Van Horne. After that, a railway was constructed, connecting along the main line a string of hotels that sprouted over the years. That was when Banff boomed as an international tourist destination.
Come and enjoy the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Banff. There are also two other equally stunning national parks nearby. These are the Yoho National Park and Kootenay National Park.Image Source: dreamtravelspots.tumblr.com
