Taking a trip to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, would be like traveling back in time. The city nestled on a plateau that’s part of the Judean Mountains is considered one of the world’s oldest cities. It is found right between the Dead Sea and Mediterranean Sea. Three major religions consider Jerusalem a holy pilgrimage site. These include Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
In the course of its long and colorful history, the city has been attacked over 50 times, conquered more than 20 times, and destroyed and rebuilt twice. It became part of the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites in 1981.
