If you’d like to have an extraordinary vacation in Europe, make sure to include castles in your list of places to visit. Castles are impressive historic sites with astounding architecture, and rich and colorful history.
In Germany, one of the most famous castles is the Neuschwanstein Castle in the southwestern part of Bavaria. More specifically, it sits on top of a hill right above the Hohenschwangau village.
The castle was built after it was commission by Ludwig II as homage to Richard Wagner. He financed the construction of the castle from his own pockets and did not use the government funds. After the death of the reclusive king in 1886, the castle was opened to the public. To this date, over 60 million people have toured this stunning castle.
