Yunnan won’t be hailed as the “kingdom of mountains” for nothing. Over 90 percent of its 394,000 square kilometers of area are majestic mountain ranges that you’d want to see at least once in your lifetime. Here are some of them:
- The Meili Snow Mountain – Also called the “Prince Snow Mountain”, this one is a sacred mountain for the Tibetan Buddhists. It is located in the northeastern part of the Deqin Country. Apart from grandiose mountain views, it also has three beautiful rivers: Mekong, Salwen and Jinsha.
- The Yulong or the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain – IT is a 5,596 meter tall mountain nestled in the northern part of the Old Town of Lijang. It is aptly named for its resemblance to an enormous crystal jade dragon.
- The Baimang Snow Mountains – These mountains can be found in the heart of the Hengduan Mountain Range. There are over 20 peaks towering at about 5,000 meters above sea level.
Other equally beautiful mountains include The Haba Snow Mountain, The Gaoligongshan Mountains, The Biluo Snow Mountains, and The Diancang Mountains.
