Koufonisia used to be a part of Cyclades in Greece but in 2011, it has been moved to the municipality of Naxos and Lesser Cyclades. It comprises three islands namely the Koufonisi or Upper Koufonisi, Kato or Lower Koufonisi and the Keros. Keros, the uninhabited island among the tree, has been declared a protected archaeological site as it houses an extensive collection of Cycladic art objects dug up during the 20th century.
The place abounds in points of interest including churches of Agios Georgios and Profitis Ilias, the island’s museum, and the Church of Virgin Mary. Of course, the beaches here are truly remarkable and you won’t be able to resist hanging out by the sea.
