Some of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders can be found in Antarctica. The glaciers and ice formations are simply a delight to look at. It’s even more so if you see them right in front of you.
Do you know how glaciers are formed? These start to form when snow retains in the same place the whole year. When there’s enough snow, it turns into ice. Every year, additional snow compress the previous layers from the past year. This results in the crystallization of the snow, which produces grains. The grains become larger in time. After several winters, these would compact and transform into a firn before it becomes a glacier.
