Manhattan Bridge in New York is one of the most famous bridges in the world. This suspension bridge which connects Downtown Brooklyn with Lower Manhattan crosses through New York City’s East River. Mainly, it spans 448 meters or 1,470 feet long with suspension cables measuring 983 meters or 3,224 feet long. It’s total length is a staggering 2,089 meters or 6,855 feet!
It has been open for public use since 1909. Designed by Leon Moisseiff, it quickly became known for its “innovative design”, which propelled it as “forerunner of modern suspension bridges”. Many tourists come to see this well-known New York City landmark.
