One of Crimea’s most beautiful tourist destinations is the Generals’ Beaches, also called the Coast of 1000 Bays. It is located along the coast of the Azov Sea, stretching from the villages of Zolotoy to Kurortny. Although this place is rarely visited by tourists, it’s where you’ll find some of the most beautiful sunsets in all of Ukraine.
The site used to be a military training ground from 1947 to 1972. It was used for testing thermonuclear weapons of the Soviet Air Force. The beach, which is closed to the public, is where military officials often went to relax. This is why, it was named “Generals’ Beaches”. Since it’s not packed with tourists, it’s one of the most well-preserved beaches in the country.
