Most people know this Catholic church as Salute, but its real name is Santa Maria della Salute or Basilica of St. Mary of Health. It is built at the Punta della Dogana in Dorsoduro sesitere in Venice, Italy. It is smacked right between the two canals of Guidecca and Grand, which is why it can easily be seen when you enter the Piazza San Marco aboard a gondola. It belongs to the list of the plague churches. Most of what you’ll see inside the church are artworks and artifacts pertaining to the plague or the Black Death.
It’s true that there are countless historic attractions in Venice that you can’t afford to miss. This is one of them.
